As I had posted earlier, Alitalia finally brought the lost bag to us in Sorrento. But there was a bit more to the story. Thursday was our last night in Sorrento and that was the day we took the bus to Positano and Amalfi. There was little to no cell service that day, so I could not check on progress. Annamaria, our tour host, had promised to call for us.
Up to that point I had been wearing the same pants, shirt and shoes that I left home wearing, as I had no others available. We were doing laundry in the sink each night.
We arrived back in Sorrento from Amalfi around 6:30 pm and I phoned Annamaria. She said the bags were not yet at the hotel and Alitalia wasn't sure where they were at that point. I was very discouraged as I had been 5 days in the same clothes. We headed straight for the shopping district as I needed something else to wear.
I ended up buying a pair of Italian jeans, Italian loafers, and a couple of polo shirts. Glad to have something else to wear, we walked back to the hotel. To our surprise, our lost bag had just been delivered to the room! Since we were to leave for Rome early the next morning, I had to keep the Italian clothes. Annamaria later said we should file a claim with the airline and they should reimburse us. Let's hope so.
We sure hope so!!! As per Brian, "You really just wanted to keep the fancy Italian duds! Next time we see you, you will have to show case them for us!" What a bummer it's been such a headache...
