Anacapri

There are two peaks on the island of Capri.    The first peak is above the port and is the location of Capri Center.  Marina Grande at the port is where we stayed, and Capri Center is above the port via cable car. Anacapri is on the other side of the island and near the top of the second peak. The local bus is the best way to get there (see previous post).

We bought the all day bus and cable car pass on Monday, and really got our money's worth of value.   Rain was threatening all day and we had intermittent showers.  We  made two trips to Anacapri, separated by heavy rainshowers. Both times we were turned away at the chair lift to the top of the peak due to weather.  That was a disappointment as we has planned to ride the chairlift.

On the second trip we walked the length of Anacapri enjoying the narrow streets and interesting shops, only to discover a museum with a gorgeous view of the sea.  Along the way we saw a beautiful hotel and some picturesque homes.  As we continued on around from the museum we came upon some steps leading down the mountain. Unknown to us, we had started down the Phonetian steps connecting Anacapri to  the seaport below. More about that later. Below are a few photos from Anacapri and the link to the full set of photos.
